What Inspired you to write?
What Inspired you to write?
“My work is totally original and comes from my imagination alone.
Anything can suggest a story to me.
Sometimes I would hear just one sentence during a conversation.
That would be all I needed to imagine another story.
Sometimes two people would talk just in front of me, and mention one sentence, and I would develop a whole story on the screen of my mind and imagination.
I see real pictures… and I just simply write them down.
My love for fiction and fantasy also played a role in my writing. I read up to five different books per week.”
The story of how I started writing my Debut Novel… :
Hi! Im Gloria Tesch and I would like to introduce you to my first book ‘Maradonia and the Seven Bridges’. I have been working on Maradonia for about three years. When I started I was only 11 years old, it all happened just by accident! I was in a Creative Writing class when my teacher asked our class to freewrite a story. I thought sarcastically, “Oh great something more to write about…”
During that time I wasn’t that interested in writing anything but as I began to work on my essay, more and more ideas came into place! I couldn’t believe what I wrote and neither did my teacher and the other students. I walked into an art store and I bought some journals. Then I wrote more on the Maradonia. After about 100 pages I had no idea what to write about anymore, so I just put aside my journal. This is called a ‘Writer’s block’. When I was learning in school my mother, Marina Terkulova Tesch, was cleaning out the house and she came across my journal. She read my stories and was so amazed. She talked with my father and told him that this journal could turn into something huge!
That night my whole family talked with each other and we discussed the story I have created. My family is my ‘Support Team’ because The Maradonia Saga is basically a ‘Family Production’. My only support team is my family. My Mother, Marina Terkulova Tesch, a book illustrator and fine art painter, created the cover pictures and all illustrations. My Father, Dr. Gerry Tesch, a teacher, was helping me with research concept and background stories. And my brother, Jonathan, delivered a lot of slogans and many good ideas. It was easier to write then!
So I wrote. The summer of 2007 I was totally working. I had to quit hanging out with my friends as much and going out to places. My family pushed me to work as hard as I could. There was one saying that kept me going. It was an important word which I will never forget… ever:
“Whatever you do, do it with all your might. Work at it early and late, hour after hour. Then you will succeed!”
Now look where I am! After all that work it has finally paid off. My book, Maradonia and the Seven Bridges, came out August of last year. I am so excited. I hope that my fans and many readers love it! It has been a wonderful opportunity to tell you about how my writing career started, and I hope you will also enjoy my second book, Maradonia and the Gold of Ophir! Which is coming out this year!
